Brides Wedding Hair Mistakes

Wedding hairstyle ideas

In today’s world everyone is rushing to get things done, trying to find the balance between work, and home life is challenging enough without planning a Wedding as well.

A few of us girls at Powder Room central were talking the other day about when calling our Brides to organise their Wedding day hair trial, that brides at times didn’t seem as excited…and we talked about that in the last lead up to the Wedding there is just so much to do!

To help you in your planning we have come up with the top mistakes that Brides make.

  • You haven’t started planning in enough time.  You might be growing your hair to give you as many options as possible, when really you may not need to grow your hair as long and some temporary hairpieces could be added in to create more hair in your look. Creative colouring can also really help enhance the look of a hairstyle. If you choose a hairstyle with texture, consider a hair colour with some variation. If you are choosing a hairstyle that is all off your face make sure your colourist is aware on your style choice, so foiled are foiled right to your hairline. At Powder Room you can book in with Karen, owner of the Powder Room to help you with your pre Wedding cuts and colours. Check out our salon website.
  • You have too much cut off your hair close to the Wedding. It can be better in some situations to not have that last haircut in the 6 weeks before the Wedding. Try a moisturising treatment to keep the ends of your hair healthy.
  • You arrive at your trial without any inspiration.  Planning is essential to helping your stylist get to know you. Try Pinterest and Wedding Blogs for ideas. Think also about what you don’t like. Choose pictures of hair like your hair, similar colour and texture.
  • Bring with you to your trial, the friend/family member that you most value their opinion. You don’t want to come to the trial on your own and then go home only to have that important person tell you that’s the style isn’t you.
  • You want to like like the best version of you, but you still want to be you! If you want to try something different consider booking in for 2 trials to try different looks.
  • Remember to bring with you your veil and any hair accessories. If you don’t have them by the time of your trial, ring your artist to see if they have a practice veil or any hair accessories at their studio for you to try.
  • When choosing pictures, choose styles that work with your hair, e.g. if you have a fringe, high hairline, your face shape and any prominent hair accessories, e.g. a floral crown.
  • What texture is your hair? Does it need to be blowdryed straight the evening before the trial, or washed the night before the trial or on the morning of the trial. If you are unsure call your artist prior to the trial.
  • Remember to talk to your hair artist about the other members of the Bridal party, their hair type and ideas at the trial. You want your Wedding day to run as smoothly as possibly and being prepared with their looks means that timing runs efficiently and there is no surprises.
  • Touch up products, even though you may have booked an amazing stylist, there is so much kissing and dancing etc. Ensure you have hairspray and extra pins for touch up, especially if you are removing your veil after the ceremony.

Ultimately it’s your day and you want to feel amazing, remember to say how you feel at the trial. Your artist should be open to your feedback and any changes.
