Queensland brides designer awards – Paddington Weddings

Monday, October 11th, 2010

Powder Room hair and make up artists Jody and Sarah created these gorgeous Wedding looks for the Queensland brides designer awards last Friday night for Paddington Wedding designers Bertossi Brides.  We are so excited to see who won the awards, can’t wait!!

Hair and make up looks on Tamblyn models Katlyn and Elsbeth were more bigger and more extravagant and make up was bolder than our normal bridal looks, so that it stood our more for catwalk.  Hair paddings and hair pieces were used to create the bigger shapes with hair.  Bertossi brides were going to be featuring lots of fascinators and hats, the latest in Weddings at the moment inspired by the 50′s think the TV series Mad Men, ultra feminine! The hats and fascinators that the designers used were made by The House of Windsor.  Lips were lacquered with Powder Room’s Lips with Love range “Two hearts”. Check out our Powder Room make up store and spoil yourself today!

Check out Betty and Joan’s hairstyles from Mad Men

Would you like to know how to create these looks for your Wedding day, ask you Wedding hair stylist to hot roller the hair first using Sunscience Thermal setting spray and the hair is moulded using Bain De Terre smoothing wax and shine spray to finish the look.  Hair paddings help create the shape for Joan’s look.

Hi Girls from the Powder Room,

Just wanted to send through some pics from our wedding on 9th April this year. Bridgitte and Kate came along to style us for the day and were very professional, making us all feel comfortable, even my 83 year old grandmother!

I was so happy with my hair and make up and couldn’t have asked for anything better. I received so many positive comments which was great with people wanting to know who had done my hair and make-up.

Thank you for making me feel so beautiful on my special day.

Kind Regards,

Martina

Beautiful Islander Bride

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

Sera was such a beautiful bride! She had a traditional ceremony in fabulous traditional dress then changed into a gorgeous wedding gown for her reception.

Sera, blessed with a perfect darker complexion, was enhanced with airbrushing makeup. The foundation was luminous and the cheeks soft and barely there. Eyes were blended with a smokey sultry look and long luxurious lashes. To create the perfect pout we used The Powder Room’s own lipstick in Aisle be Yours and Lipgloss in Pink Champagne.

Makeup Tips for darker skins:

With a slightly darker skin tone, you may think you don’t need much bronzer, however it can even out the skin tone and give a luminous glow. Use a deep softly shimmery bronzer applied with a fluffy brush, on your cheekbones and forehead. We love the Mac Cosmetics bronzing Powder and why not enhance the look with our favourite blusher “Nars Orgasm Blush”, voted the best blush by industry professionals.  A must have for all skin tones!!

Sera sent us such a lovely thank you note:

To the Powder Room, On the 25/04/09 I hired your service on my wedding day and I would like to thank you for providing the best! ‘Exquisite hair and Make up’ is an understatement. I would like to extend my gratitude towards my stylists for that day, who met my needs and brought the best out of me! They took my fears and and brought out the confidence in me. I felt so beautiful! My bridesmaids and flower girl all looked amazing as well!… “You hit the spot!” …they said. lol!
From the bottom of my heart. Thank you again!
