Powder Room new hair and make up Bridal collection – Sneak Peak

Monday, June 28th, 2010

Ask Wedding Make Up Expert Karen Sargaison from the Powder RoomChoosing your Wedding hairstyle can sometimes be a challenge, you are left wondering “What will it look like on me”  and you do want it to be extra special!  You are also trying to imagine what it will all look like together, that is your dress, Veil, or should you have a fascinator!  I know how confusing!!  Well don’t worry as when we meet you at your pre Wedding trial we make sure we have plenty of time to help you create that special look as we allow double the time to that of your Wedding day and of course the same stylist that you meet on your trial day is the same that spoils you on the Wedding day.

Just wanted to share with you all a sneak peak at one of our new Bridal collection images photographed a few weeks ago. Powder Stylists have created 8 new looks to be launched in the December edition of  Brisbane Bride Magazine out in December! We all love a red head, Katie’s hair is naturally curly and is softly pinned of the face with one section. The Wedding updo, flows softly to one side, using a hair padding to create the gorgeous shape.

Wedding make up was inspired by Katie’s beautiful porcelain skin, soft  warm apricot gold tones and shimmery iridescent cheeks, perfect for a Spring Wedding.  Lips lacquered with Powder Room’s “Lips with Love”  I Do lipstick and Last Flirt gloss.  Visit our Powder Room store to purchase your very own Powder Room shade!

Vintage Wedding headpiece – Beautiful Powder Room bride

Thursday, April 8th, 2010

Cathy Lucas our Gorgeous Brisbane bride from last week, Easter Thursday was in amazing spirits, despite the happenings before her Wedding day.

Cathy managed to loose her engagement ring and some one stole her vintage headpiece before the Wedding day when she accidentally left it in a cafe.  The House of Windsor worked through the night to make her a new headpiece.  Cathy looked so beautiful with her simple Wedding hairstyle and amazing headpiece.

Cathy’s Wedding make up was a sexy and alluring. Charcoals and darkest navy tones really bring out Cathy’s amazing eyes!   Using a good quality primer really does help the foundation last all night.  Cathy ever so kissable lip colour was one of our favourites, Powder Room’s “Lips with Love” Ms Amour and Gloss shade “Pink Champagne” …muwwhhhh!

“The Powder Room ladies in the background were so calm, and I never doubted for a minute that we wouldn’t look like film stars!  Thank you for making us feel so special, I almost want to get married all over again, so I can look this good:) Thanks Cath”

The Powder Room Real Bride Feature – Wedding Day Make up and Hair

Sunday, March 14th, 2010

What a beautiful bride! Preeya Ramritu our  stunning Indian bride was married on the 24th January and our taented stylist Tracie looked after Preeya’s hair and make up on her special day.

Preeya’s long gorgeous hair framed her face perfectly with soft curls. This half up half down up Wedding hairstyle is perfect it you would like to wear you hair down but want to have more security in knowing it will last longer.  Hair was set in hot rollers, then gently tonged using a thermal setting spray.  Working around the part hair was pinned softly in individual sections creating some height on top of the head.

The eyes are always the focal point of a Indian brides’s make up Preeya’s make up  was absolutely flawless with shimmering shades of silver and smokey purples and of course lots of luscious lashes!  We love using Laura Mercier, “Metallic creme eye colour in Alloy” under eye shadows to help the shadow stay all night!  One of our favourites brands of foundation to use slightly darker skin tones is “Mac” face and body, can’t live without it!

Preeya chose to wear Powder Room’s “Lips with Love” Lipstick in “Unforgettable”.  Visit our Powder Room store, to check out more colours to say I do!

We just love Rachael’s English Rose Wedding day hair & make up

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

Brisbane Wedding Beauty, Rachel Belonogov, nee Condon sent us this gorgeous photo of her Wedding day hair and make up with a love note of appreciation:)

We think Rachel’s choice of Wedding hairstyle a side swept style looked so fresh and elegant. Curly hairstyles are more popular than ever and this style is a perfect choice for the warm weather.  Rachel’s make up was that of an “English Rose”, flushed cheeks and a pretty pink pout, created using Powder Room’s own - lips with love “Miss Amour”.  The key is to look like you have just had your first kiss!

“To the Powder Room ladies,

This is just a quick email to thank you all for making my wedding day a spectacular day.  All the pampering and attention to detail made me feel truly beautiful.

I had endless compliments on how beautiful I looked… and I have The Powder Room to thank for that.

And the best bit was that my hair and makeup was flawless all day and night long! I couldn’t believe it (and neither could any of my bridesmaids).”

Vintage Hairstyle

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

In the last 6 months a revolution has taken place with hair, soft ripple waves are the main attraction as was seen at the Oscars this year. Hair is shiny, soft and feminine.

At our last training day we created this gorgeous hairstyle on our lovely model, Sarah.

The hair was initially set, brushed through with serum smoothed to the ends adding impeccable shine and control. The hair was then hot tong moulded to create the soft ripple wave across the face. A pony tail was banded at the back left, nape of the neck. Large sections of hair were gently twisted, rouched and loosely pinned into the pony tail to create a full, textured, bun-like shape.

The front waved sections were pinned into the back of the hairstyle asymmetrically, one side was a loose braid, the other side pinned lower over the ear for that sassy vintage style. Beautifully accessorised with a crystal, silk flower, individually created by Leanne from Lila Designs.

A great technique for getting super long hair up securely so you can dance the night away!

B105 Naked Wedding – Pampered by The Powder Room

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

Well, what a morning it was! We were all up at 3am to be at the Stamford Plaza by 4:15am to beautify Ellie and her bridesmaids.

Ellie looked as lovely as ever and was surprisingly calm with just a few pre-wedding jitters. Ellie came and met with us yesterday and had a chat about how she would like her hair and makeup to look on the day. As everything was organised in such a whirlwind, there was no time for a trial, however Ellie, Colleen, Sam and Julie were so happy and easygoing and were happy for us to create our magic.

Ellie wanted her hair to be up off her neck but very soft incorporating some curl and her veil to be worn underneath. The girls used Sunscience hair products in the hair which were great for shine and hold. Ellie’s makeup was also very soft with pink golds and a little depth added with a subtle charcoal. Being a beautician, Ellie’s skin was just beautiful so Sarah gave her a light foundation coverage making her skin look glowing and luminous. Ellie wore The Powder Room lips with love lipstick in Miss Amore and lipgloss in Pink Champagne. Of course false lashes were applied – every bride needs long luscious lashes!

Tracie and Elissa then had to make their way over to Gianni’s Portside to look after Jessica Mauboy’s hair and makeup. Jessica sang for The Victorian Bushfire Appeal  last night, so she only arrived in Brisbane early this morning. By the time she arrived at Gianni’s Tracie and Elissa only had 25 minutes with her for hair and makeup. Both girls said that Jessica was absolutely lovely, very friendly and down to earth. Jessica sang for the bride and grooms first dance (Ellie in her beautiful wedding gown and Phil in a handsome looking tux).

Camilla wasn’t left out this morning either as Kristi was at the B105 studios to do her hair and makeup at 4:30am too.

Overall a fantastic morning was had by all. What a way to say I Do!!

Love Letters

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

We love to receive letters and emails from our gorgeous brides telling us how perfect their day was and how much they loved their hair and makeup!

Leading up to the big day there’s always a lot going on with planning and preparation, it’s nice to know when you wake up on your wedding day what really counts is your love for each other and sharing that with your family and friends. This always shows through the lovely photos we receive back from our brides.

Each month we’d like to share with you in the laughter, beauty and love of one of our beautiful bride’s special days.

This month our gorgeous bride is Victoria de Ryck. She wrote us the following email after her wedding day:

“I am writing to say thank you for your fantastic hair and make-up service leading up to and on the day of my wedding. Specifically, I would like to say a big thank you to my stylists for being so wonderful! They were both extremely friendly, professional and fantastic at doing my bridal party’s hair and make-up. The girls looked fantastic! I have attached some photos to illustrate what a great job the girls did. I have no hesitation in recommending your service to friends and family looking for hair/make-up professionals. Thanks again!!!

Victoria and her bridal party looked absolutely stunning on the wedding day and kindly sent us the following photos. Photography by Brisbane Bridal Photographers.
