With 2011 about to start, Powder Room stylists are really looking forward to such a busy year. We’d like to help our Brisbane brides plan their Wedding hair and make up with some helpful tips and important questions to ask when booking your Wedding day hair and makeup stylists.
Some of the questions to ask when booking your Wedding day artists:
Q. How do I guarantee the reputation of the Wedding artists I’m booking?
A. Ask your friends, work colleagues, family for recommendations. Read Wedding forums and ask other reputable Wedding suppliers, eg your Photographer, Wedding venue etc. Also look at the Website for images of real brides. Check out other blog posts by The Powder Room for the latest testimonials and picture from our previous beautiful brides. (A sneak peak below)

Q. Should you make an appointment to meet with the business for a consultation?
A. Sometimes it’s great to go and see the businesses environment, and learn more about the quality of products they use. Remember we all relate in different ways, some are more visual, feeling orientated or auditory. Powder Room offers complimentary 15 minute cupcake consultations in our new Farm studio by appointment. We can chat about the look that your inspiration for the Wedding, whether it’s vintage, old fashioned romance or sophisticated elegance to name a few….
Q. Is the same artists that looks after you in the trial looking after you on the Wedding day?
A. An important question to ask because it’s great to be able to meet with the same stylist at your trial who will also be pampering you and your bridal party on your wedding day. At The Powder Room we always send out the same stylist to look after your wedding day hair and makeup as you met at your trial so that everything is just perfect for the big day!
Q. How much time is allowed for your Pre Wedding day hair and make up trial?
A. Your pre Wedding trial is one of the most important parts in the planning of your Wedding day hair and make up, and Powder Room trial are at our intimate Bridal studio based in New Farm, just 5 mins from the CBD. On the Wedding day we provide a full mobile Wedding service and can come to your home or hotel. We do also have an intimate bridal studio for those wishing to escape everyone. Powder Room stylists allow double the time to that of the Wedding day, ie 1.5 hours for a make up trial and 2 hours for a hair trial. Q. What happens if your Wedding day look isn’t exactly what you had planned at the end of the trial, especially when you have paid a deposit to secure your artists?
A. For your peace of mind, The Powder Room offer a “Powder Room Promise”: Our commitment to you!
We are truly passionate about our brides. Our commitment is to listen and to work with you, to create your dream Wedding look.
When booking with The Powder Room, we know you will love the whole experience from your trial to the Wedding day.
The Powder Room Promise is that, if at the time of your trial you are not entirely happy with your experience we will organise a complimentary re-trial, with the same stylist.
If you are still not completely happy with your second trial, we will issue you a full 100% refund of your deposit paid to The Powder Room at the original time of booking.
Sarah,was the sweetest bride I think we have ever met, with the voice of a angel and she looked like an angel too! Sarah visited the Powder Room a few times, as she also had her lovely Bridesmaid Angela book them in for a special Occasion make up prior to the Wedding. Jody and Heidi really had the most amazing day with the girls at The Stamford Plaza. We always like going to visit Andy Chan, the Wedding co ordinator at the hotel, he is so helpful with our brides planning.
Sarah’s veil was a Mantilla veil, they traditionally have lace edges, they are also know as the Spanish mantilla, more oval shaped and worn at the top of the head, simply elegant!
It was so lovely to receive this lovely “Love Letter” from Sarah today on email.

Beautiful Bride Claire was married on the 22nd May this year and Judy and Heidi had such a great day spoiling Claire and her bridesmaids! Just wanted to share some of her gorgeous photo’s from the day.
We loved the loose braid detail across the back of Claire’s low look updo and how softly the front of Claire’s hair fell, it’s great to choose a lower diagonal parting as that way you get the perfect look for that sweeping fringe! All of us at Powder Room are so looking forward to the busy peak season again, and brides galore!! Bring it on!! Saturday just gone at our intimate Powder Room Wedding studio in New Farm we had 11 brides visit in the afternoon having their Pre Wedding hair and make up trials, there were veils, jewels, lashes and hairspray everywhere!! How do we ever go home to a normal night after our days.
One of our beautiful Brides to be Simone (getting married in September this year) booked Powder stylists Jody and Sarah to look after some of the cast member for a pre launch photo shoot a few weeks ago. Simone works with Queensland Theatre Company, and we are looking forward to spoiling Simone for her Wedding make up and hair. We are travelling out to Simone on the day to look after Simone and her bridesmaids. Simone met us when she booked for a special Occasion hair and make up last December.
We were pretty excited to meet, Sibylla Budd (from Secret Life of Us), Paul Bishop (from Blue Heelers) and Hugh Parker ( from Uk East Enders).
Sibylla arrived in New Farm straight off a flight and the girls had a about an hour to work their hair and make up magic. We had a lovely time with them and are now excited looking forward to the show, which starts on Sept 6th thru to 9th October.

Choosing your Wedding hairstyle can sometimes be a challenge, you are left wondering “What will it look like on me” and you do want it to be extra special! Just wanted to share with you all a sneak peak at one of our new Bridal collection images photographed a few weeks ago. Powder Stylists have created 8 new looks to be launched in the December edition of Brisbane Bride Magazine out in December! We all love a red head, Katie’s hair is naturally curly and is softly pinned of the face with one section. The Wedding updo, flows softly to one side, using a hair padding to create the gorgeous shape.
Wedding make up was inspired by Katie’s beautiful porcelain skin, soft warm apricot gold tones and shimmery iridescent cheeks, perfect for a Spring Wedding. Hi Girls from the Powder Room,
Just wanted to send through some pics from our wedding on 9th April this year. Bridgitte and Kate came along to style us for the day and were very professional, making us all feel comfortable, even my 83 year old grandmother!
I was so happy with my hair and make up and couldn’t have asked for anything better. I received so many positive comments which was great with people wanting to know who had done my hair and make-up.
Thank you for making me feel so beautiful on my special day.
Last Tuesday night was a lovely night, with lots of “Brisbane Brides to be” at our Wedding event. If you are a bride an planning your Wedding day , The Powder Room was the place to be last Tuesday night! It was such a great night and the Tara from “Style magazine” came just to photograph me! Oopps I mean all of us:) It was so nice to see Tara again, we last caught up when Tar and her Mum cam into our studio just before Mother’s day to have make up lessons.
The evening started with our brides arriving to be greeted with a goodie bag, glass or champagne and a cupcake from “Judy C” Cakes, we even had gluten free cakes! The studio smelled amazing with Glenda’s Pradella’s gorgeous flowers!
Lots of helpful hints in planning your big day were shared, did you know at Emporium hotel that they even have a pillow menu, Darren helps you plan your day for all Weddings at Emporium……what about that when choosing your dress don’t choose shoes with too much bling as they catch on the inside of your dress, thanks Ann and Gill from Paddington Weddings, such gorgeous dresses! Miriam from Body Essence day spa, talked about what happens if you get a pimple and how to have that perfect back in your gown.
Rebecca from Hypoxi talked to the girls, and one man in the audience (poor fellow!) about how to spot reduce, the latest sensation in weight loss and cellulite reduction, it’s a pity I’m not getting married again:(
Cath from Vivid Photography shared with us their amazing candid shots and how to plan your timing for getting the most amazing looks on your Wedding day. Leanne from Lila designs wowed us all with sparkly bling to enhance every dress, I just loved the sole less jewelled shoes for beach Weddings! The Photo booth hire was such a hit, can’t imagine what that would be like at the end of a night after a few too many glasses of champagne!
Prizes that were won on the evening included a high tea for four guest for a high tea at Emporium hotel, a gorgeous Wedding hair comb, and make up basket form Powder Room, engagement photography voucher and a Wedding clutch bag.
