Wedding Cakes Brisbane
Cupcakes & Wedding Cakes
Working in the Wedding industry, we get to chat to lots of Brides on quite an intimate level. Spending up to 3 hours with our Brides at hair and makeup trials and then on the Wedding day. As girls do we love to talk and one of the most frequent conversations is about Wedding cakes. It’s so easy to talk about food.
Talking about Wedding businesses we love to work with and one of our most loved is Vanilla Pod Speciality Cake Kitchen in Albion
Each week our lovely Brides who come in to meet with us prior to booking, enjoy one of Vanilla Pod’s delicious cupcakes, which goes especially well with a glass of champagne. Our Brides are then spoilt again when they come into our New Farm studio for their Pre Wedding trial with more cupcakes. Did you also know that Carla the co-owner of Vanilla Pod especially also includes in our deliveries Gluten free cakes? Just that extra special little thought:)
We thought we would share with you a little about Carla Burns, the owner of Vanilla Pod, and some of her tips when planning your Wedding day Cake.
Your first memory of falling in love.... I was out in London, about 14 years ago… when a striking man across the bar caught my eye…we chatted for hours and that was the first night of the rest of my life with my with my darling husband Scott…
1.Your favourite bride story...we had a fabulously fun girl choose six different flavour cakes for an alternate drop at her wedding and said it was the most talked about wedding cake ever…especially the rainbow layer cake!
A quote you love... “Romance is the icing, but love is the cake” Julia Childs
Top 3 items to do on your Bucket List...a week in the Maldives…a white Christmas in Scotland with our kids…teach my kids how to sew…
What do you feel is special about what you do?....We design and make beautiful cakes that create fond memories and smiles on the faces of our customers…we love to bring happiness through cake!
Someone that inspires you... Frida Carlo, an inspiring woman who showed determination through creativity during a life of illness. I love the strength & passion she reflected in her work. We must be grateful for every day we wake up smiling.
What are 5 questions most frequently asked by brides...
1. Can we come and taste some cake?
2. Do you deliver?
3. Can you recreate my design?
4. Do you offer gluten free options?
5. Can you work with our florist?
The most importasnt question to ask?….I think tasting the cake in advance is the most important, it really must taste as good as it looks! Being organised to have it delivered takes some of the stress out of a brides day.
Part of what makes us happy here at The Powder Room is knowing great people like Carla and Scott with amazing their creativity and absolutely the most beautiful wedding cakes in Brisbane!
