Jasmine was pampered by The Powder Room girls on 16th September and we think she couldn’t have looked more beautiful!

We absolutely loooove the bridesmaids dresses with the cute ruffles and adore the colour too.

Emma was married on 25th June and had the fabulous Megan and Jacqueline pampering her and her girls on the day, how gorgeous do they all look!

Hello Powder Room.

I had my wedding hair and make-up done on the 25th June this year by Megan and Jac at the Emporium.

I have to say that they were absolutely amazing.  They knew exactly what I was after and I couldn’t have wished for a more perfect job.  The girls and my mum all looked fab and I think I end up pretty lovely myself.  Haha.

I love this quote, it says it all really, imagine how many kisses we get and give in our lifetime!!

Kayla and Sarah looked after Simone’s Wedding late last year for her Wedding  hair and make up and we were so excited to see Simone’s feature on Polka Dot Bride!


One of Sarah’s favourite make up products that she used on Simone was the Laura Mercier Illuminating tinted Moisturiser, a lightweight sheer buildable foundation formula, that delivers a youthful radiant finish.  Great mixed in with more coverage foundations, for example use the fuller coverage foundations through the T zone and then use a sheerer foundation in other areas.  Quite often when we do our own foundation, we don’t get the evenness that a make up artist can, so this alone is what can make you feel that coverage when a make up artist applies can be too much!!!  This is a great way to get the still have the coverage needed and still feel like you!!

As a future bride, you may be trying to decide on who you would like to book and it’s a big choice as to who looks after you and they be able to create your Perfect Wedding day look!  I know that when I’m trying to decide on who to book I like to know if possible a bit more about the business and really “Do they like what they are doing?”  You can really tell from the minute you pick up the phone or see them face to face.

Well I thought I’d start the new year with and into about me, my name is Karen Sargaison and I started the Powder Room about 15 years ago now and some of you may have already read by Bio on our website under the “About karen”, but I wanted to share with you why I love our Brides!

Because I LOVE!!!! the thrill of a Wedding day and being apart of the special intimate part of your day…how much better could it get than playing with make up, hair and all things that Bling and seeing everyone so!!!! happy.

WHY and how can I still do this after 22 years, the answer is simple because  the thrill seeing it all come together.. the other day I was at a shopping centre and trying to buy presents for our many Grandchildren, yes Grandchildren, it’s hard to believe that I am actually “GrandMa Kaz”, and I saw two of our previous brides, from last year.  I tried to hide a little as I was in Sunday mode, ie NO MAKEUP, a sin I know for a makeup artist!! It was so lovely to see that one of them was 18 weeks pregnant.  I feel that we were part of the first step in creating that little baby, so exciting!!!

I wanted to share with you one of the recent Brides Elissa and I did in December, Mimi.  I met Mimi years ago when Jess, Mimi’s bridesmaid started working for us in the office.  That was so many years ago now and Jess is also now married and lives in Sydney.  I just love the look on the girls face, so happy and full of excitement.

Mimi posted us a letter the other day and written on the back of the envelope was (old fashioned mail) and I was so excited to open Mimi’s letter, she was such a sweetie:)

Dear Karen,

I just wanted to thank you and Elissa for the brilliant job you did on the day of my Wedding.  What should have been a crazy start to my day, having only planned the Wedding a month ago.  You lovely ladies made me feel relaxed and more importantly made me feel relaxed and feel so special and gorgeous...

It’s so beautiful to see a couple soooo in love and Toni and Dan are just smitten!

Toni’s gorgeous day was held at the Maleny Manor and her amazing dress is a Maggie Sottero design. The day was captured in style by Studio Impressions and Net Productions. Hair and makeup was incredible with very elegant, romantic upstyles with great shape and detail and soft smokey eyes with glowing skin and Powder Room’s own lipstick in “Only You” and lipgloss “Pink Champagne”.

We got goosebumps watching their beautiful Net Productions wedding video and wanted to share it with you! You’ll see our girls, Megan and Rebecca working their magic

Gorgeous Powder Room Bride Laura Sanderson was married at the Emporium hotel on 10th July and was an absolutely stunning Bride!


Laura was such a calm, relaxed bride planning her big day in just a few short months.

Her makeup was airbushed for a beautiful flawless finish with a soft smokey eye to really bring out her gorgeous eyes!

Laura’s accessories were absolutely amazing, we especially loved her intricate choker! And Laura’s bridesmaids dresses were super cute in raw silk with ruffles.

Toyah got married last December and Jody and Jill – super Powder Stylists.  The girls loved spending the day with Toyah and her family.  We received a lovely email testimonial and these gorgeous pictures and Toyah signed her email “Princess Toyah Purrington”, which made us chuckle, Toyah really was a princess!


Chignon hairstyles are the most formal updo hairstyles at Hollywood red carpet events.  Toyah’s High bun chignon was the type of updo that you could wear all year round and it would be amazing for those warm weather Weddings.


Celebrity hairstyles looks, are always what we “google” when searching for that perfect Wedding day hairstyle. Some of our favourite looks at the moment are that of Kate Bosworth, that perfect ballerina bun and Jessica Alba with the messier more casual updo.

Cathy Lucas our Gorgeous Brisbane bride from last week, Easter Thursday was in amazing spirits, despite the happenings before her Wedding day.


Cathy managed to loose her engagement ring and some one stole her vintage headpiece before the Wedding day when she accidentally left it in a cafe.  The House of Windsor worked through the night to make her a new headpiece.  Cathy looked so beautiful with her simple Wedding hairstyle and amazing headpiece.


Cathy’s Wedding make up was a sexy and alluring. Charcoals and darkest navy tones really bring out Cathy’s amazing eyes!   Using a good quality primer really does help the foundation last all night.  Cathy ever so kissable lip colour was one of our favourites, Powder Room’s “Lips with Love” Ms Amour and Gloss shade “Pink Champagne” …muwwhhhh!

What a beautiful bride! Preeya Ramritu our  stunning Indian bride was married on the 24th January and our taented stylist Tracie looked after Preeya’s hair and make up on her special day.


Preeya’s long gorgeous hair framed her face perfectly with soft curls. This half up half down up Wedding hairstyle is perfect it you would like to wear you hair down but want to have more security in knowing it will last longer.  Hair was set in hot rollers, then gently tonged using a thermal setting spray.  Working around the part hair was pinned softly in individual sections creating some height on top of the head.


The eyes are always the focal point of a Indian brides’s make up Preeya’s make up  was absolutely flawless with shimmering shades of silver and smokey purples and of course lots of luscious lashes!  We love using Laura Mercier, “Metallic creme eye colour in Alloy” under eye shadows to help the shadow stay all night!  One of our favourites brands of foundation to use slightly darker skin tones is “Mac” face and body, can’t live without it!
