Kim Kardashian’s Wedding Hair & Makeup

Tuesday, August 30th, 2011

Kim kardashian’s Wedding was truly an extravangaza, and her hair and make up was every part as gorgeous as what we imagined…..she looked very polished, elegant and exotic….creating the perfect princess.

The intricate chignon was created by hairdresser Peter Savis, can you believe it though girls that Kim didn’t have any pre Wedding trials.  To create the look Kim’s hair would have been set first on big rollers, brushed through and then worked with a synergy of a light hairspray (so you can build it up) and a pomade. Check out the latest Powder Room Wedding day upstyles gallery!

A hair padding would have been used for the chignon at the back to create the shape.

I loved the change of dress and hairstyle….she also wore her hair in big Hollywood curls cascading down the right side of her face with a diamond clip pinning back the other side. In total Kim donned 10 million worth of diamonds for the glamorous event ! Just look at those shoes!!!

Kim’s makeup, artist Mario Dedivanovic explains in his own words how he created Kim’s perfect princess look on the day.

“She wanted to look like the most polished and beautiful version of herself,” he says. Preparation was with moisturiser by La Mer and By Terry Touche Veloutee concealer under her eyes, giving her a fresh-faced look. Ensuring things stayed put during the long day, Dedivanovic set her makeup with Chanel Poudre Universelle Libre Natural Finish loose powder.

When it came to highlighting Kardashian’s stunning features — especially the eyes — “I used Lancôme 5 Pan Eyeshadow Palette in Golden Frenzy,” he explains. “I swept the golden shade all over lid, the darkest shade along her crease and the lightest shade I used on the brow bone to highlight. I swept the golden colors along Kim’s lower lash line for a super-soft smoky look.” And to give her lashes beautiful length and volume, “I applied two coats of Lancôme Hypnôse Doll Lashes mascara in So Black,” he explains.

To warm Kardashian’s skin and contour her cheeks, Dedivanovic relied on Guerlain Teracotta bronzing powder. “I brushed a bit all along the hairline and along the jaw line,” he says. “To chisel her cheeks, I swept it along the hollows of her cheeks.” Finishing off the look, he defined Kardashian’s voluminous lips using YSL Dessin des Levres lip liner in Nude Beige and Lancôme’s L’Absolu Nu lipstick in Coral Sand (a sheer peachy hue), adding a final touch of shine with Lancôme La Laque Fever lip gloss in Ravishing Coral.

But his job wasn’t done yet. The secret to her stunning shine-free skin throughout the day and night? “Tatcha Blotting Papers,” Dedivanovic reveals. And since Kardashian changed gowns throughout the evening, Dedivanovic had to keep his work classic. “The look had to work with any dress she chose,” he shares, “so we kept the makeup consistent through out the whole day and into the evening.”

Kim Kardashian’s Vera Wang Wedding Dress(es!) ~ Our Hair & Makeup Prediction for her Big Day

Thursday, July 7th, 2011

It is rumoured that the larger-than-life Kim Kardashian is having not one but TWO perfect wedding dresses designed by the amazing Vera Wang. She has met with the designer in New York and again in LA. Vera Wang was also the designer for Kim’s sister Khloe’s dress for her wedding to Lamar Odom in 2009 so they are already well known to each other. Khloe has said of the designer working with her sister – ‘I love her, and I feel like when you think of weddings, you think of Vera Wang. I think it would be a perfect fit”, according to the Daily Mail.

Below are a few images that are predictions for Kim’s wedding day dress(es!) :)

While Kim is sweating it out in the gym with her TWO personals trainers to fit into her TWO gorgeous dresses, let’s take a moment to imagine what hair and makeup look she may choose for her big day.

Kim is famous for her smoky eyes. luscious long lashes and signature nude lips. She is also a big fan of the NARS blush in the amazing peachy-pink colour “Orgasm”.

Here are a couple of gorgeous hair and makeup styles which we predict may be her chosen wedding day look:-

Glowing, nude bridal makeup with a soft smokey eye, understated yet elegant and classic-

Or will she choose a more 1950s pinup girl style makeup with bold lips and more natural eyes like below? She has mentioned her bridal look will have a 50s twist so our bets are on a look like this :)

For her wedding day hair will she choose an elegant upstyle like below…?

Or a glamourous retro downstyle..??

Only time will tell but us girls at the Powder Room are eagerly awaiting the first images of the blushing bride as she walks down the aisle any day now!

Beautiful Asian Make up

Friday, March 11th, 2011

Powder Room stylists looked after the beautiful Ruby a few weeks ago, when Ruby booked in with FOURZEROZEROFIVE Photography in New Farm for a Get Gorgeous session, which included hair ,make up and a photography session in our intimate new Farm studio…such a nice present for the person your love or even more wonderful for yourself!

We get asked a lot, almost every week  the question “are you experienced with Asian Wedding make up”, and yes we are!!  Powder Stylists look after many different nationalities, check out our “Real Bride” Gallery images on our website.

One of our favourite Half- Asian Celebrities is the gorgeous Kimora, in all her Fabulosity!  Mixed race people are so beautiful!!

Kimora always carries around two different eyeliners, the liquid is for above the eye and the pencil is for inside in the eye.  Kimora rarely uses the pencil unless she is going out, if you put liquid liner on during the day and then add pencil to the inner rim at night it glams it up!

Lucy Liu is another Asian beauty with the most perfect celebrity make up. For Asian skin always use a concealer and foundation that has yellow tones.  Pink and Coral tones work best for Blush.  For a natural looking eye, it is best to use brown and neutral colours.  Start by using a medium brown shade over the entire lid and then using a shimmery darker brown or mocha in the crease.  Apply the eyeliner with a contour brush and widen the eyeliner as you go out to the edges of the eye.

Soft braided hairstyles are the latest – feature in Discerning Bride magazine!

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

The 2010 copy of “Discerning Bride” magazine has hit the shelves!

We are so excited as we have a few features in the latest magazine, in news-agencies now!  The Powder Room artists should be doing the hair and make up for the Golden Globes!
Romance is reborn!
Powder Room is featured with the gorgeous braided upstyle, on our very own stylist and co- ordinator Sarah as the beautiful model.  We just love the softly braided upstyle that frames the face with little diamond bows, so feminine sexy and dishevelled.

Hair was styled by Jody and make up by Karen.

The Bridal magazine also features our very own signature “lips with Love” lipgloss “Spring Fling”, a sheer melon tone,  available online  at our Powder Room shop.

Featured in the magazine are two of our Real brides as well, Crystal Campbell Wedding 3/10/09 and Anna Rossette Wedding on the 13/6/09.

Photograph of Braided hairstyle was by Grapeshots Photography.

2009 Emmy’s Hair & Makeup

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

The Emmy’s this year were all about Classic, Sophisticated Hair and Makeup with lots of bling!

We saw a lot of Hollywood Glamour in the form of smooth low chignons, romantic waves and sophisticated updos. Debra Messing pulled the look off perfectly along with Heidi Klum and Christina Hendricks.

Emmy’s Makeup this year was light and fresh on the eyes amping up the glam with loads of lashes and pairing the look with a nude or matte lip. We loved Mila Kunis’ makeup and for more of a soft smokey look, we were a fan of Olivia Wilde!

2009 Oscars Best Hair & Makeup

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

Wow, what a night!! The 2009 Oscars was an evening of amazing updo’s, shiny boudoir waves, sleek soft buns and soft undone chignons. Every year we can’t wait to see what the stars look like on the red carpet and The Powder Room’s annual collection is inspired from evenings like these. Wedding hair and Make up has never been so sexy, feminine and soft.

We just loved Angelina Jolie’s soft romantic long curls. The half updo created the most amazing profile. Angelina’s soft French nude look make up eluded feminine simplicity with her signature eyeliner being the focus of the look.

Amanda Seyfried’s gorgeous soft waves, had the most amazing shine. The perfect hair for this look is highlighted blonde hair with a slight natural wave and the weight of long hair. When choosing a hairstyle it looks even more amazing if you have chosen a style to suit your hair type.

To create Frida Pinto’s beautiful hairstyle that looks so easy and comfortable to wear, shiny hair is a must. Hot rolling the hair for preparation, then brushing thoroughly through and loosely pinning the back to one side. Leave out a section on top, gently tease and pin back of the face. Perfect for the grown out fringe.

Kate Winslet’s Grace kelly inspired hair style was the type of style that you either loved or just didn’t. From the back we think it looked amazing, the moulded texture, wave and flawless finish was elegant. In choosing this hairstyle be sure that your stylist gets the balance right or it could end up looking too wide at the back of the hairstyle.

Marion Cotillard’s sleek French Twist is so classic, a style that will never date in your Wedding day photo’s. A little tip if wearing a veil, the veil would need to be worn high on the head. Why not try a fascinator!!

Rachel Wood looks chic and sophisticated. Perfectly coiffured and looks amazing on a redhead!!
